A Slocomb 5' to 6' micrometer in the orignal box with the original instructions. The box has been taped with masking tape, which sometimes you can get off with a hair dryer. The tool is pristine.

I've always been interested in the history of the people and companies that made all this possible, and it is thrilling to be able to use the same tools that my Grandfather used so many years ago.

The cover above was mailed on October 18, 1908 from Providence to Mr. W. E. Putten in Portland Connecticut. The Drill Bit shown top left of the cover's face is a combination semi-high speed center drill and is also featured on the Reverse of a 1915 J.T. Slocomb corner cardto the Maxwell Motor Co. The reverse of this cover features a micrometer manufactured by J. T. Slocomb, (measures length in 1/millionth of a meter).

J.T. Slocomb'Wholesale Specialty Metals' is listed in the Providence directory as currently in operation.

On July 7, 1994 a judgment was issued against J. T. Slocomb Co. by the National Labor Board for a violation of their employees rights. It seems that they threatened their workers with layoff and discharge and then fired 11 employees for participating in a Union Organizing Campaign
